Novel Audio is proud to be celebrating our first-ever Audiobook Month, so we wanted to do something special to show a little format love. Audiobooks are the perfect format to bring books to life in a new way–so why not do the same for their covers? Our genius designer Kirill Fraidine rolled up his sleeves and got down to business animating eight of our digital covers to capture the spirit of some of our favorite titles. Take a look (and a listen) below!
From the Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy award-winning sci-fi author of The Forever War, Buying Time is set in a dystopian 21st century where immortality is attainable for a princely sum but remains shrouded in mystery until two “immortals” stumble across a dangerous secret. Initially published in 1989, our original cover designed by Ben Mcleod brings home that 80’s sci-fi feel. This one is currently available exclusively in audio, so if you want to find out more, you’ve got to get your headphones out! Narrated by Jeffrey Schmidt.
Notes on Blindness
With astonishing lucidity of thought and no self-pity, John M. Hull describes the horror of going blind and finds a new way of experiencing the world. Based on John’s diaries recorded on audio tape, this is profoundly moving and surely meant to be experienced in audio. We hope this atmospheric cover expresses both John’s experience and the beauty of his writing. Narrated by Nicholas Guy Smith. Available June 23rd!
The Secret History of Star Wars
Whether your heart lies with the prequels, sequels, or original trilogy, this is a fascinating look at one of the most beloved franchises in cinematic history. Narrated by Michael Kaminski.
Cara Alwill Leyba, one of our bad-ass babe authors, brings the phrase “authorpreneur” to a whole new level with the incredible following she’s brought to her coaching, blog and books–including the highly inspirational Girl Code. Narrated by Em Eldridge with Kate Orsini, Kyla Garcia, and Cherise Boothe.
Steven Levy’s classic book traces the exploits of the computer revolution’s original hackers—those brilliant and eccentric nerds from the late 1950s through the early ’80s who took risks, bent the rules, and pushed the world in a radical new direction. Narrated by Mike Chamberlain.
To Pixar and Beyond
After Steve Jobs was dismissed from Apple, he turned his attention to a little graphics art company that you may have heard of called Pixar, a company that at that time was on the verge of failure. In steps Lawrence Levy and the rest, as they say, is history. Here’s that extraordinary history, with a cover inspired by the dreamy winds of imagination. Narrated by Bronson Pinchot.
If you need a mentor (and who doesn’t), look no further: Gillian Zoe Segal’s Getting There brings advice and origin stories from thirty highly successful leaders in every field, from journalism (confirmed bad ass and silver fox Anderson Cooper) to business (you may have heard of a certain Mr. Buffet) to fashion (Sarah Blakely, aka the inventor of Spanx and patron saint of bodycon dresses). And just like these mentors, our Living Cover takes a few tries to get everything right, but nails it once it gets there. Narrated by Alex Hyde-White, Jorjeana Marie, and Rene Ruiz.
And of course, we can’t celebrate Audiobook Month without giving a shout-out to our Audie-award nominated erotic story collection Sweet Dreams by Sunny Leone, made even more sizzling with expert narration. Narrated by Simone Lewis and Vikas Adams.
