The Inconvenient Indian

The Inconvenient Indian

by Thomas King

Performed by Lorne Cardinal

You heard right.
It's finally here!

Novel Audio is honoured to bring Thomas King's The Inconvenient Indian to life in audio through the voice of acclaimed Canadian actor Lorne Cardinal. We've been working on this title for a long time, and we're excited to bring King's wit and wisdom to listeners across the country and around the world.

The Inconvenient Indian is at once a “history” and the complete subversion of a history—in short, a critical and personal meditation that the remarkable Thomas King has conducted over the past 50 years about what it means to be “Indian” in North America.

This is an audiobook both timeless and timely, burnished with anger but tempered by wit, and ultimately a hard-won offering of hope -- a sometimes inconvenient, but nonetheless indispensable account for all of us, Indian and non-Indian alike, seeking to understand how we might tell a new story for the future.

From Lorne:

I'm thankful for the opportunity to voice Thomas King's words and brilliance, and that he uses such wit, sarcasm and humour to address these relations.

The history is not pretty or gentle at times but is necessary for our country to get the stories out of the shadows and into the light of truth.

Thank you Mr. King!
